Continuing professional education quality review

CPE quality framework

Standards that turn professional learning into credible evidence

Our framework connects educational purpose, effective design, reliable delivery, proportionate assessment, learner protection, and continuous improvement.

Key considerations

The framework at a glance

01

Purposeful

Learning responds to an identified professional need and defines meaningful outcomes.

02

Evidence-based

Claims about quality, completion, and achievement are supported by controlled records.

03

Continuously reviewed

Providers monitor delivery and use feedback, results, and change to improve.

Framework chapters

Quality principles in practice

01

Governance and accountability

Named leaders must be responsible for educational quality, operational controls, instructor oversight, learner safeguards, accurate public information, and the integrity of records.

  • Defined authority and accountability
  • Document control and version management
  • Conflicts and complaints managed fairly
02

Learning design and delivery

Programs should identify their audience, entry expectations, objectives, content sequence, learning methods, duration, resources, and delivery arrangements. These elements must align rather than operate as isolated documents.

03

Assessment and completion

Where assessment is used, it must be suitable for the learning outcome and administered consistently. Attendance, participation, identity, completion, results, and certificate issue should be traceable.

04

Evaluation and improvement

Providers are expected to review feedback, completion patterns, complaints, assessment performance, content currency, instructor effectiveness, and relevant professional changes.

A clear route forward

How the standard is applied

1

Application received

We record the submission, confirm its pathway, and check that the core information is present.

2

Evidence reviewed

A competent reviewer evaluates the submitted evidence against the published requirements.

3

Questions resolved

Where clarification or additional evidence is needed, the applicant receives a focused request.

4

Decision issued

The outcome, approved scope, conditions, and next obligations are documented and communicated.

Requirements are applied proportionately to the pathway, delivery model, audience, professional context, and risk while preserving consistent quality principles.
